GENERAL ACADEMIC STRAND

If you're still unsure and want to keep your options open, the GAS strand is for you. This strand includes courses related to all other strands. With this said, you'll have the advantage of exploring different interests you have in mind.

An introduction video by Judylyn Mayores

The General Academic Strand is abbreviated for the four strands available in Academic Track because students learn and experience something from each of the others. GAS is primarily for students who are undecided about which strand to pursue. GAS was the best of the bunch because you could learn the other strands even if you didn't choose them. This is because GAS is a strand that is open to students who haven't yet decided on their college courses. People who choose this strand aspire to be members of society who will interact with a large number of people. They may want to be a teacher, psychologist, lawyer, or other profession. This topic focuses on language and communication, but it also covers mathematics and physics, which aren't particularly difficult because they aren't part of the specialization courses. Now, whether you choose GAS or not is entirely up to you, and if you believe this subject is easier than the others, you are mistaken. If you are passionate and pleased about the subject and the people around you, this strand like any other, will not be as difficult as it appears. Furthermore, the GAS Strand investigates key subjects that can also be found in other strands such as STEM, ABM, and HUMSS. This strand allows you to continue your studies if you are still indecisive about your path of study.

"I am proud of GAS students because they chose not to commit to an area of specialization half-heartedly. Hence, they dedicated more time and effort to find one through the GAS programs. Students who love their chosen future careers are likely to be more successful than those who found themselves rushed in choosing a particular Strand or Track that they don't like nor they are inclined with. GAS students are very flexible. Their varied skills can be found across different Strands and Tracks which may enable them to perform well in collaborated learning. Furthermore, one of the benefits of having a heterogeneous class, which is common in GAS, involved in different activities is that they are able to showcase varied skills which may contribute to the benefit of other students as a group."
